Event Description

THE LATEST (AS OF MAY 18th):
We changed the route!  We're now riding along the CT river front area!  Then just a short drive to Thomas Hooker.  We made the change to make the ride more fun, relaxed, and safe!  A great ride for experts and newbies alike.  Slow pokes like me can do one loop, those looking to burn more calories can loop twice!  Of if mountain bikes are more your thing, feel free to follow theblue trail here.  Those that are very brave can attempt to finish off with a ride to the brewery, but we wouldn't recommend it.

We'll kick the ride off at the boat launch parking lot at river side park at 12:30pm.  Expect the ride to wrap up in time for us to drive to Thomas Hooker by 2:00pm.
The route will be suited to road bikes (but mountain bikes are fine too) and riders of all skill levels.

Adjusted route:  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1183837

DON'T WANT TO RIDE?  COME OUT TO THE BREWERY ANYWAY AND ENJOY SOME GREAT BEER, FOOD, AND COMPANY!  COME OUT AND GET YOUR GROWLERS FILLED THIS SUNDAY!  BE SURE TO GET YOUR TRAIL BLAZER CLUB CARD!

Food, Beer, and Brewery Tours!

The ride will be absolutely free to ride, but if you intend on joining us for the brewery tour, craft beer tasting and food there will be a $17 charge at the door of Thomas Hooker. ($7 if you don't want to eat...)

Food will be provided by Connecticut's only gourmet grill cheese sandwich truck,
The Whey Station!

Menu: Choice of sandwich and either soup or chips

  • Monger- our signature 5 cheese blend
  • Bacon marmalade- our "truckmade" sweet and salty bacon jam and brie
  • Caprese- fresh mozzarella, tomato, and pesto
  • Soda

Great time yesterday! Good 15+ showing at both Hartford and Bloomfield.

Hope to see all those "Might Attend" RSVPers today!  Great weather, should be a good time.   At the very least, join us at the brewery for some fun at 2 PM after the ride!  Why not buy a growler too?

Thanks Pete, the bike guys at Pedal Power are aware of this, looks like they were discussing it today just as your comment came in.  Odd coincidence.  They're reviewing the route and I'm passing along your concerns.

We will likely go with what you suggested or something similar and may have an alternate route as well...   Either way it should be a good time, so please come out and enjoy the day with us!  More to follow.

It looks like the route will bring us over the Bulkeley bridge, which has a ridiculously narrow foot path that dumps you out basically onto the entrance ramp. May I suggest taking the founders bridge? You can cross constitution plaza and take the handicap ramp down to market street.

Kt, the ride is free, but the after event in the brewery will cost $17 if you want to eat, or only $7 if you just want the tour and tasting...  See updated details above.

Can we have an update? Is there a fee to ride??

Comment by Bryon Turner on April 18, 2012 at 8:08pm

All...  Sorry for the delayed response...  We're still working the final plan for this ride, but it should be a great time for all.  Stay tuned for an update early next week.  Thanks!

Is there any info on the route? If so that would be great

I am interested.  Does anyone know how long the route is and whether or not there is a fee?  I did hear that it is for all skill levels.  Any more info??

Haven't done one of these before, but I am sure interested.  Don't own a road bike just a mountain bike.  Would that be suitable?

Might attend (21)
