I'm an avid home brewer (since '89) and really enjoy the growth of the small breweries and brew pubs in Connecticut. I also have a few other interests / hobbies, one being Amateur Radio (yes, it's still quite popular). From time to time there are Special Events that are held on the air, tomorrow there is the Corsair Airplane (Bridgeport, CT) 75 Anniversary being celebrated with a on the air Special Event. Basically other Amateur Radio (Hams) around the world try to contact the Special Event station and confirm a contact. These are logged and compared against each other for authenticity and 'awards' are given out (mostly bragging rights).
Having a Connecticut Beer Trail Special Event has been a thought of mine for a few years. The event could revolve around making contacts to as many of the breweries we have in the states on the trail, perhaps by brew names, etc. An award plaque (usually emailed or printed out) could have the logo's of the breweries /beers to commemorate a successful "crawl"?
It's in the thought stage currently, looking for inputs and ideas. I think this event would give the CT Beer Trail much wider recognition than just regional.
