For those who are interested in growing your own hops.... I just wanted to let you know that many area garden centers will be carrying them this year. Stonehedge in Newington currently has Chinook, Centennial, Cascade and Mt Hood available.
By week's end the same varieties will be at Cheshire Nursery in Cheshire as well as several other retail nurseries throughout New England.
They're fairly large staked plants in a 5 gallon container and will produce cones this year. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions about growing them or other locations etc.

Permalink Reply by chris on June 18, 2012 at 10:56am I picked up 4 Cascade seedlings from Salem Gardens on Memorial day weekend. Two of them took off and are 3 or 4 feet long now.
Permalink Reply by Deborah Cushman on July 15, 2012 at 4:52pm I have a couple of hops plants in my yard in Simsbury. There is a nice crop on the Cascade, but the Centennial does not bear flowers. Free to a good home! Let me know if you are interested.
