Tell us about your experiences at the San Diego event... What sort of activities did they have, etc...
When we signed in we got our credentials and a gift pack that included some hops, small style swag and several bottles of commemorative beers brewed by local breweries. There are exhibits by various homebrew related companies such as Northern Brewer, White Labs, Wyeast, Blichman etc. There are hour long seminars all day long and they all serve beer. The hospitality suite ( in this case it was the exhibition hall, is manned by homebrew clubs. There is beer being served 16 hours a day.
One night is pro brewers night which is like a mini GABF. Local breweries serve their beers and there is usually some snack type foods available. The next night is club night where home brew clubs set up booths and serve their beers. This can get kind of wacky with strange costumes and decorated booths. You can find videos of club night on You Tube.
It all finishes up with the Grand banquet. There is a meal usually prepared by Sean Paxton, The Home Breded Chef. Rogue supplied beer at each table. At the conclusion of the meal and some guest speakers they hand out the medals from the NHC competition.
It's a great time and a chance to meet home brewers from all over the country.
After the banquet you can party all night. They pulled out all the left over entries from the competition and let you go at it.
Anybody out there going to the 2016 convention in Baltimore June 9-11? Does milk thistle really help fight hangovers??
