CT Beer Trail

There's plenty of ways to buy home brew supplies from the comfort of your home via the internet but nothing compares to having a local shop keeper you trust to guide you through learning and developing your skills.

Where do you buy most of your beer making supplies?  Tell us a little about the shop and the folks that work there.

Brew and Wine Hobby for sure. Great people and always ready to answer questions and offer advice.
thank you Lawence!
thank you Jody!
Also a +1 for Brew and Wine Hobby.  Rich is definitely willing to help you out with anything he can.  I have spent numerous days after work there speaking with Rich on some of the beers we are working on.  He is very knowledgable and an awesome resource for people of any experience level.  Also a shout out to Dana for doing a great job teaching the advance beer brewing class a month or so ago.   Dana is also very enthusiastic about the beer brewing process.  He too is another great resource.   I used to be an online orderer, but why would I do that with a shop so close, better prices and that much knowledge and friendly people there!  Keep up the good work guys!
Thank you Heath.  Dana and Rich are a great team!
Again Brew and Wine in East Hartford, was just there yesterday and it doesnt ever seem to matter if your just purchasing a yeast packet you forgot or a large order there always so great.....Rich is amazing, im not sure if its hippyesque self or just his willingness to share and help out but I love that I see so many of you all are supporting your local stores so much, even if on line is cheaper at times!!!!   Side note, i just met rich's co-owner, super nice guy as well, def the yin to the yang lol :)
Being the Yin to Riches Yang is definitely true- Paula! Thank you for your endorsement of our shop.
I prefer to go to Maltose Express, since it is the closest shop to me but I also order from Brewmasters Warehouse in Georgia. They have flat rate $6.99 shipping and it they are really fast.
Brew & Wine hobby on Pitkin st in East Hartford.   Good prices, friendly and gives personal attention to your needs and desires, for all levels, from beginners to experienced brewers. No shipping charges and good discussion of the local brewing buzz.
I have to give props to Rich at Brew & Wine Hobby in East Hartford. We have been going there for a few years and usually walk out with something. Even when we started out and were lost and confused, a simple phone call helped with our problems. We have even brought our four legged friend Meester down there.

Very nice place and we talk it up all the time!

I used to order everything online because all the CT stores were too far away. The closest, Maltose Express, was great, but the drive took more than an hour.

That changed when Stomp'n'Crush opened. Now I shop there exclusively. Great selection packed into a tiny space. Great advice and answers. Great people. Always a positive experience.

Zoks is my go to place, I've been going there for the last 5-6yrs. I have become very good friends with Paul. he is a great source for inspiration and advice. I've been a brewer for about 14 years, and it was very humbling to recieve complements from him  on some of my beers, especially since the wall paper in his shop is basically ribbons he has won from all the comps he has entered. Great place to go to get the advice you need. If you want to get your beer to the next level see Zok.
