CT Beer Trail

Where can a guy grab a decent beer in the greater Norwich area?

Do you have a favorite place with a great beer selection (including local brews) that sits somewhere between Willimantic and Stonington, perhaps in the Norwich area?  Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm guessing you chose the two endpoints intentionally, as you already know about Willimantic Brew Pub and The Malted Barley (about 1/2 mile over the CT border, in Westerly, RI).

indeed

Harp and Dragon has a great tap selection and a killer happy hour deal. From 3-6, M-F all of their food and draft beer is 1/2 price (with the exception of the prime rib, and the dogfish 90 min).  The only downside is their tap system isn't great, I will frequently get flat beers or beers that taste just plain bad.  They are the only place I've sent a beer back at, and they are pretty good about it.  I would also recommend getting the cottage chips as an appetizer.  The spicy sliced potato wedges are fried and really hit the spot.  The rest of their food is alright, don't go expecting too much.  I think I would be disappointed in the quality if I paid full price for anything.  What New London county really needs is a good bar that gives some kind of deal with the trailblazers card...

Exactly...

Anyone else a fan of Two Brothers?  Would like to see their tap list...

Just checked out their Facebook page. No tap list on their Website, but they do seem to have had a few great choices in the past. Not sure what they have right now, but they've recently had Founders Breakfast Stout and DFH Bitches Brew. Promising!

My wife and I stopped in after work last night at Two Brothers in Salem. They close at 9 pm, so we felt a little bad arriving at 8:30, but the bar was packed. We sat down and split an eggplant grinder. (Ask for marinara if you don't want meat sauce, but anyway...)

They sat at least two tables later than us, one at 8:56. Last call was 9:25. Didn't see any servers rolling their eyes at the late people, so maybe this is common. Good sign for us, as we could rarely get there before 8:30 on any night.

Let's see, we had... Stone Arrogant Bastard, Sixpoint Resin IPA, Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye, an IPA by Black Diamond (Jagged Edge?), BBC Coffeehouse Porter on nitro, and a Goose Island stout served in a very nice Goose Island glass.

It was a bit amusing that a few of the servers probably wasn't even old enough to drink legally, so don't expect any help from them, but the single-sheet beer menu should be descriptive enough for most people.

Thank you for the suggestion! We will definitely be back many times!
