CT Beer Trail

I have recently been looking for information about home brew clubs in CT. I have looked on the AHA website for information regarding local clubs but it doesn't list much more than contact information. Feel free to post information about your local club regarding how often you meet and what kinds of things your club does.

Hi Jim and Tom,

My neighbor and I are also interested in a Cheshire/Middletown area club.  We both have over 10 years experience brewing and have been getting more serious in the last few years.  We'd love to have a local groups to share brewing experiences and taste beer.  We are interested in starting to go to competitions and such, but I think the first step is to get some good feedback from other brewers first.

I have been in clubs in Texas and California, but never found one here to join.  Lets try to get together and discuss.  Eli Cannons is a great idea.

What would be a good day/time to meet?  Throw out some days and maybe we can come up with something.

Could you make Eli Cannon's next week?  Let me know if and when you're available. Already have Jim on board and just trying to firm up a date.

Tom

You can reach me at tomobrien67@comcast.net or call 860-638-7781

I believe I can make most evenings next week.  I have also sent a note to my buddy, Marty Hummel to see if he can join us as well.  You can email me direct at: chrisbac@gmail.com

I have young children, so like 7 or 8 would let me help out with the evening routine, but I am flexible.

Look forward to talking this through

Chris

MASH we are located in clinton ct we meet once a month at stomp n crush beer and wine supply store. our next meeting is tomorrow at stomp n crush wed jan 11 @ 7pm new members are always welcome. any questions feel free to message me on this site or contact stomp n crush by calling or email. like i said we are still very new and are working on group activitys for the up coming year. right now we enter the AHA club only competions and we are working on various beer related education.

If anyone from the central Middlesex County area is interested, there will be a get togther on Thursday, Jan. 12 at Eli Cannon's in Middletown to discuss the possible formation of a club in that area.  Come around 7pm and look for someone in a Wormtown Brewery cap(black cap with W on front).

In Vernon here and also would be interested in joining or even starting a brew club. I have been teaching friends here and there (made 15 gallons of mead last weekend with some cool people) but it would be nice to join up with some people who are more seasoned than i am

FOCCT Homebrew Club meets every second Thursday of the Month at 6:30pm at Brew and Wine Hobby in East Hartford. It's pretty laid back, come check it out some time.

Checked out FOCCT at the last meeting you guys had, it was accidental really. Showed up to buy supplies from the shop and ended up joining the round table discussion. It was a great time and we took away some great tips- especially the water which we have gone and gotten for our last brew. We will definitely be back for the next meeting.

I was wondering if this was the same Ryan. Look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.

For any others who come across this discussion, a new homebrew club (The Middlesex Malters http://middlesexmalters.com ) was created as a result of this discussion.  We meet every 4th Thursday at 7.  We used to meet at Eli Cannon's Trading Post, June and July we met at The Place in Cheshire.  We are looking for one or more place to meet into the future.

We have been growing and usually have 12 - 15 folks with lots of beer to taste.

Posting another update.  The Knights of the Mashing Fork (KotMF.com) has shuffled around some people in the club, opening up even more spaces for membership. There's two levels depending on how much time you're willing to commit. (All skill levels are welcome, but you must be dedicated to brewing)

We meet all over, but brew in Coventry, CT.  We have members from Manchester, Vernon, Bolton, South Windsor, Coventry, and all the way to Ashford.

Benefits: we have a 45 gallon brew system. We host 1 or 2 bulk grain buys each year. Our website is nationally renowned.  We put on a couple of internal club competitons each year.  We headline the Brews & BBQ day at Coventry Farmers' Market- one of the largest FMs in the country. And we participate fully in the New England Homebrewers Jamboree in NH to raise money for Make-a-Wish ($13k last year). Half of our club members are BJCP certified. One of our past members won NHC homebrewer of the year and also the Sam Adams longshot.

Keep an eye on our forum or facebook page for the latest events. This sat, Nov 10th, 2012, will be our last club brew for this year- feel free to stop in. E-mail info@kotmf.com if you're interested in attending, or otherwise joining.
