Does anyone know of any homebrewing clubs or groups in the Greenwich/Stamford/Norwalk area?
I don't know about anyone else, but I haven't found any homebrewing groups in Fairfield County. The closest I've seen is the one that meets at Captain Lawrence, which is actually not too far away, but also not accessible by train. I know a lot of these groups can be small and may not necessarily have a website, but I figured there should be something. In Stamford, the beer scene is almost non-existant: two decent bottle shops, as many decent beer bars, and no homebrew shop to speak of in the area.
And then I guess the next question would be, is there anyone out there who would want to start a homebrew club in the Greenwich/Stamford/Norwalk area?

Permalink Reply by Steven Parrinello on May 16, 2011 at 7:15am I am a home brewer located in the same area. The only brew clubs i found are Coalhouse Pizza and Westchester Brew Club at the Captain Lawrence brewery. The Coalhouse club meets very sporadically. Westchester meets the 4th Weds of every month at 7:30 PM.
I would be interested in meeting more homebrewers in our area.

I guess I'll have to call them to figure out what it is they do (because honestly I haven't even been to the place yet, though I've been meaning to). From their website it seems they have a "Beer Club," which I don't think is the same as a homebrew club. I've seen other bars that have Beer Clubs and they're basically promotional clubs for the bar, aka "Mug Clubs".
I think it's fair to say for now that there isn't a Homebrew club for our area. Let's wait and see if we can scare up more people to join, and see if we can get one started.

We have the country's second oldest amateur homebrewing club based in Fairfield and New Haven Counties.
We meet on the third Wednesday of each calendar month at members' houses and taste and judge each others beers and run various events (including regional competitions).
If you're serious about brewing and want to mix with others who are too, get further details from our website at:
if you have any questions, there's an email address given on the website.
Thanks

Permalink Reply by Eric Cornell on June 27, 2011 at 6:16pm I'd also be interested in a club in the Greenwich/Stamford/Norwalk area. I've been to one of the "homebrew" nights at Coalhouse. It was also a tap take-over night by Captain Lawrence and I was lucky enough to have Scott taste my Levitation clone. I'm not sure when the next time I'll be over that way is, but the owner is Gerard (the red-headed guy who is almost always there) and from the few times we've talked he seems real nice and very excited about beer and homebrew. He'd be the man to talk to about getting more info (since their website leaves something to be desired).

The Cascade Kings are dedicated to sharing techniques, presenting new ideas, and of course brewing delicious homebrew. The only requirements of membership are that you love beer. Meeting times and locations will be presented at a later date.
