Comment by Christopher Sheehan on February 29, 2012 at 10:29am I can't believe there are three of us from the same BJCP class. This is very fortunate.
Comment by Mike Patient on February 29, 2012 at 11:30am Oh wow, we should get together for tastings.
Comment by Chris Kern on February 29, 2012 at 11:46am Yeah that's crazy...for sure let me know, I know I need practice. After that class last night, there is a lot of beer I need to taste!
Comment by Mike Patient on February 29, 2012 at 12:22pm hah Eli's is a good meeting place for that
Comment by Scott Barbanel on March 1, 2012 at 8:06am Submitted my info last night. Looking forward to meeting everyone on the 15th!
Comment by Chris Eisbach on March 1, 2012 at 10:46am I love that there are BJCP folks in the group. That is exactly what we were oping for! Can we have you guys pass on some of your knowledge in the meetings? I think we would all benefit from the expertise or at least lessons you know. I am going to start using a BJCP check list for our informal tasting at the meetings as well, so that may help us all.
Comment by Bill Peacock on March 4, 2012 at 10:34am Brewed a pale ale yesterday. 6lbs light dme. 1 lb crystal 60. 1 lb vienna. 1 oz magnum hops @ 60. 1 oz ahantum hops @ 15. 1 oz ahantum hops @ 5. Steeped/mashed the grains at 153 or so for 1 hour. Fermenting with Safale US-04. Anyone else brewing this weekend?
Comment by Mike Patient on March 4, 2012 at 11:41am Just about every weekend! a little motueka dry hop sounds great on that pale ale!
Comment by Bill Peacock on March 4, 2012 at 11:53am I've never used that hop before. Just did a little reading on it and it sounds interesting. I'm thinking about dry hopping with 2 oz of whole leaf cascade hops in the primary next weekend. They have whole leaf cascade hops at the trading post. I brewed with those on 2/12 and bottled it on 2/26/12. Tried a bottle on Friday and it is pretty tasty. It should be ready on 3/15 for our meeting. Where do you get those motueka hops from?
