"I have a couple of hops plants in my yard in Simsbury.  There is a nice crop on the Cascade, but the Centennial does not bear flowers.  Free to a good home!  Let me know if you are interested."

Hop Plants Now Available at New England Garden Centers

For those who are interested in growing your own hops....  I just wanted to let you know that many area garden centers will be carrying them this year.  Stonehedge in Newington currently has Chinook, Centennial, Cascade and Mt Hood available.  By week's end the same varieties will be at Cheshire Nursery  in Cheshire as well as several other retail nurseries throughout New England.  They're fairly large staked plants in a 5 gallon container and will produce cones this year.  Feel free to drop me…See More

Feeling Ripped off by Plan B West Hartford and New England Brewing!

First off, I'll say it again, I love plan B.  By far, the best local restaurant in West Hartford thanks to great beer, awesome bartenders and good food.  After living here for 3 years, I'm heading back to Boston and I'll miss Plan B. With that said, I feel totally robbed of the $25 I spent on a ticket (plus a tip)  for the Earth Day cask event today.. .   The event was advertised as running from 2:00-6:00.  $25 for dry hopped IPA cask (unitll it runs out and a buffet.  I showed up at 3:55 and…See More

Your Details
While I have no idea how many different beers I've tried in my life, I started documenting all the ones I've tired since the last presidential election. Curretnly I'm at 540 since November 2008.
Weaned on German beers by my dad who lived in Munich, I've allways hated Bud and Coors.
What are your favorite CT Beers?
To date, City Steam's Carpenters Ale (IPA) has been my favorite. Still Looking for the "great one"

Welcome to the CT Beer Trail!  Side bar, rumor has it there's a new brewery in the works that will be producing canned beer... more to come on that topic.

Ya I also like the can beer trend.  Tallgrass out of Kansas makes some great beer.  They shipped me several to review on my website and I had them when I was out in CO for the GABF this past fall.
