During the American Revolution Colonel William Ledyard resisted the attack of a British force of 800 men. For nearly a hour his forces held strong but eventually succumbed to the British onslaught. As the British stormed the fort, Colonel Ledyard ordered his men to lay down their arms. The British officer in charge demanded to know who command the fort and Colonel Ledyard replied "I did, sir, but you do now" As a sign of surrender and good will, Colonel Ledyard offered his saber to the British officer. The officer accepted the saber and violently stabbed the unarmed Colonel to death, initiating a massacre of some eighty captive Americans.
Our name came under the pretense that surrendering is not an option. We will not surrender to poor quality beer, we always strive to produce craft beer with the freshest hops, malt and yeast.
