Von Bair; Nov. 10, 1931 – Mar. 12, 2012

Von Bair grew up on a potato farm in Idaho, a curious and academically inclined young man. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy where his intelligence, hard work and talent gained him entry into the Naval Academy in Annapolis for officer training. As an officer, he served on both ships and submarines and taught in Yale’s Naval ROTC program. After he retired from the Navy, Von worked as the chief…

IT'S FINALY HERE!! We've got an early gift for all our longtime and new customers . . . .

We invite you to visit our NEW website and our new ONLINE STORE at http://www.maltoseexpress.net/

Our new main web page will have listings of our events and class schedule, wine and beer making info, photos and much more as time goes on.

We're very excited to bring our customers our online store as well. You'll find the link on our main web page.

We offer more than 450 clone beer recipe kits - each are available as extract, mini-mash & all-grain versions - as well as all the beer & wine making gear and ingredients we offer in our store.

You can choose to ship your order anywhere in the United States via UPS, or you can select In-Store Pick-Up in the secure check-out area so you can pick up your order in our store as soon as you arrive. (please indicate in the special instructions area when you'll be arriving to pick up your order).

We have a few more additions to the store in the works - like ordering custom grains mixes for your own recipes - so be sure to keep checking us out.

We're very excited to be bringing this to you, and hope you'll spread the word to your fellow brewer and vintners, family and friends across the country.

A great place to go for your all you need to make great beers and wines at home.

The shops' owners, Mark & Tess Szamatulski - as well as their staff, are extremely knowledgable. They can get you started on the path to making some tasty wines and beers - as well as help you with any issues you may have about batches you may have in progress.

Definitely THE place in Connecticut to shop for your home brewing and wine making needs.

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I often go to Maltose when purchasing home brew supplies. They are always willing to answer questions or just talk about brewing. Their events are awesome too with representation from local breweries, home brewers, mead and wine makers. It is very helpful and enjoyable to meet these people and talk about new tips and techniques about brewing. I think they have an event like this coming up next week.
