If You Like Fresh Beer & Enjoy Good Food...
The Willimantic Brewing Co./Main Street Café is a living landmark restaurant and pub brewery located in Willimantic, in the heart of rural northeastern Connecticut.

Fresh Beer & a Whole Lot More...

We brew over a dozen different handcrafted styles of beer each month. In addition to our own beers, we have over 20 different craft microbrews on tap, many from New England. We also serve a variety of bottled domestic and imported beers, cocktails and a changing wine list.
Unique Atmosphere...We‘re housed in an historic granite and limestone 1909 U.S. Post Office Building. When used as a post office our pub was the customer lobby and the private dining room housed the postmaster‘s office. Our dining room, from where you can view our 7 barrel brewery, was the post office work room.

Extensive Menu...

Our post office-themed menu is overflowing with mouth watering selections, featuring over 100 items. From award-winning wings to steaks, pasta, seafood, burgers and salads, there is sure to be something to please.
Special Events & Entertainment...We host an array of special events including beer dinners, beer tastings, theme parties and movie nights. Plus, we have NTN Interactive Video available.

On behalf of our entire staff, we invite you to stop by and hope you share our excitement for our living landmark restaurant and pub brewery. Let‘s share a brew together!

Profile Information

Your Details
Our original Main Street Café was founded in 1991, and began operations as a small deli in the old Capitol Theatre building on Main Street in Willimantic, CT. Occupying both the lobby and concession area of the theatre, seating was limited to 50 people. After 3 years we were bursting at the seams and made the move to 877 Main Street, another historic building. There we expanded to a full service restaurant and featured American craft-brewed beers and an extensive menu.

One more move was in the cards for us, and we made yet another trek down Main Street to our home in the current granite and limestone 1909 U.S. Post Office Building. Abandoned in 1967 by the Federal Government this building lay vacant for nearly 30 years. When used as a post office, our dining room was the post office work room, our pub was the customer lobby, and the private dining room was the Postmaster‘s office. Although extensive renovations have been made to the building, we wanted to retain the early 20th century architecture as well as create a pleasant atmosphere for dining. Remnants of post office memorabilia have been preserved to add to the flavor of the restaurant. Featured in our dining room is a 12‘ by 17‘ mural, created by Gordan MacDonald, depicting 1920‘s Main Street scene. A 60‘ mahogany bar, crafted by Peter Huckins is the centerpiece of the pub area.

It is in this building that the Willimantic Brewing Company was born. Viewed from our Dining Room, our 7 barrel brewery produces our freshly made handcrafted beers. Please feel free to explore our main floor and discover all our hidden treasures. On behalf of our entire staff, we welcome you and hope you share in our excitement for our living landmark restaurant and pub brewery.

  • I would like to talk to someone there about a limited run of glasses with your logo.. small limited runs ok, and wine glasses and bottles.

  • We also make some unique signs, and do interior glass, and do onsite work for front doors.

Ct Restaurant & Beer Week at Willibrew was a great visit.  The ribs and the prime rib was fantastic (as always).  And not to be left out the BEERs were as great as the food!

Great job last night WBC!  My father and I had a great time and the place was fantastic.  Oysters and beers were delicious.  We even stayed to have some more beers and food.  All around, I would highly recommend your place to all my friends.  Hope to see you guys soon (lucky for me I work 25 minutes from you!).

I have been here several times for dinner, and loved the atmosphere. One of the coolest places in Connecticut!

Recently took bike up to VT.  Hit 7 breweries.  One small one stood out a bit.  Super clean.  The Alchemist.  Heddy Topper was all they had.  Grapefruit finish with a pine nose.  Any ideas to replicate if you have even tried it.

One of the best brew pubs ever.  You will always find a home brewer sitting at the bar to strike up a conversation with.  Personally I brew all grain so its a great place to get ideas for a new batch..........

I checked out Willimantic Brewing for the first time on February 12 and was quite impressed.  Good food, nice atmosphere, friendly service, and some great beer.  I'm still thinking about the decadent S.W.A.K. Stout.

I noticed both your Winter Beer Dinner and Spring Beer Tasting fall on Mondays.  Unfortunately, I can't make it out there during the week.  Do you ever host similar events on weekends, or is that not practical with the restaurant?  Anyway, I'll be back soon.  Keep up the good work!

Check out our always changing beer list. They come and go but there are fresh ones coming out every week. Also we feature many of the CT breweries on tap as part of our guest beer selections.
