Connecticut craft beer enthusiast know Ben Braddock to be a respected Siebel trained brewer with years of experience creating delicious beer at local landmarks like Thomas Hooker and currently Willimantic Brewing.
What they may not know is that Braddock is working to take his passion and experience and put it to work for himself by developing what will eventually be Hog River Brewing Company.
The brewery and tap room will eventually open its doors in the Hartford area and will feature a lineup of 16 constantly rotating draft lines, 8 house beers and 8 guest beers.
House beers will cover all style guidelines, ranging from session beers to strong beers and everything in between, said Braddock.
“I'll also be producing a selection of barrel aged beers that include Sours and unique blends,” said Braddock. “We'll also have a limited selection of locally sourced drinks for those who are seeking an alternative to craft beer.”
The brewery will not have a kitchen, but will partner with area food trucks and will encourage patrons to bring in their own food to enjoy in the tap room. The tap room will also offer their own bread and soft pretzels made with spent grain from the brew house, along with treats like barrel aged pickles and other locally sourced snacks.
“We're very community driven and have a lot of great ideas to give back to Hartford. We are very passionate about the city and all of the exciting things going on here,” said Braddock. “We feel that the city needs new blood and new ideas, and this is where our brewery comes in.”
Braddock is working hard behind the scenes to develop his brewery and hopes to have some exciting news for local craft beer fans soon. In the meantime you can stay in touch and keep tabs on all of his progress by visiting the Hog River Brewing Company’s FaceBook page.
