Hey CT!
We just wanted to tell you about 2 new brews we have on tap starting just a couple days ago. We are now offering our Beautiful Dreamer for a limited run (only 30 kegs!). This is our take on the classic Octoberfests you will no doubt be tasting during the fall. One of our regulars, David, just got back from Germany for a "boys' week" sipping on all kinds of Bavarian goodies. As soon as he got home and gave the Beautiful Dreamer a shot, his thumbs went straight up! So stop in to try one soon! Mention the CT Beer trail when you order, and your first pint is only $3! Here are the specs on the Beautiful Dreamer:
Style: Amber Lager/Octoberfest
Color: Amber
Hop Level: A smooth and easy drinking beer. 5.5% ABV, 14 degrees plato
Pairs Well With: Pub Fare: burgers, fried chicken. Great with spicy foods and pizza.
Description: Beautiful Dreamer, named after an old Steven Foster song, is our most popular seasonal offering, and generally sells out by the end of the month. The beer is a luscious, malty, full bodied amber lager, brewed with German malt, hops and yeast. (We use American water!). It is cold aged for 8 weeks in the traditional manner. Our Brewmaster claims that a good O’fest “is the most poignant of all beers.”
A carmel-like flavor coats the palate, thus this beer appeals to those who appreciate flavorful brewing.
If you are a fan of trying new tastes and flavors, then you will not be disappointed by our second sampling- the Norwegian Wood. Some of you may remember that we sold out of this in just weeks last year! The Norwegian Wood is a dark spiced Winter lager. Here are some of the details:
Style: Dark Spiced Winter Lager
Color: Dark Brown with Ruby Hilights
Hop Level: Low hops. Appx 6% ABV, 14 degrees plato
Pairs Well With: A standalone beer, not designed to pair with specific foods. Would work with chocolate for sure, though!
Description: Beers like this are difficult to categorize. It has a sweet malt flavor and smells lightly of fresh cinnamon and a touch of cocoa, both of which were added during the aging process. Funny story- Norwegian Wood refers to a famous Beatles song about a slacker who picks up a "bird". Some drinking ensues, followed by sleeping in a bathtub. While he is in the bathtub, she leaves for work the next morning. Reminds me of a night....nevermind! If you can name the song, receive 50% off an appetizer when you order a pilsner of the Norwegian Wood!
See you soon!
